A 13-year-old boy carrying a replica assault rifle
has been shot dead by police in the US state of
California, the BBC reports.Officers in the city of
Santa Rosa say they opened fire after the boy
refused orders to drop the rifle, which they believed
to be real. The shooting on Tuesday is now being
investigated. It comes a day after a 12-year-old
boy in Nevada shot dead a maths teacher at his
school and wounded two fellow pupils before
taking his own life.
In the latest incident, two sheriff’s deputies saw the
teenager “with what appeared to be some type of
rifle”, a news release from the Sonoma County
Sheriff’s office said. The deputies called for backup
and repeatedly ordered the boy to drop the gun
before firing several rounds from their handguns,
police said.
The boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene,
was later identified by his family as Andy Lopez.
“He was holding the weapon in his left hand. He
began to turn toward his right in the direction of the
deputy, and in so doing he moved the gun toward
the deputy, and the deputy’s mindset was that he
was fearful he would be shot,” Lt Paul Henry of
Santa Rosa police said.
But the boy’s father, Rodrigo Lopez said the
shooting made no sense. “My son lost his life. He’s
not alive any more just because of the mistake of
somebody.” The replica gun had belonged to a
friend, he said.
The sheriff’s office said a plastic handgun had also
been found in the boy’s waistband.

I Have Never, And Will Never Have Sex” – 35-Year-Old Woman Who Is Neither Attracted To Men Or Women
A 35-year-old woman has told how she has never
felt sexually attracted to men or women.Julie
Sondra Decker from Tampa, Florida, revealed that
she started describing herself as ‘nonsexual’ at the
age of 15 and when she became aware of the term
‘asexual’, she changed it.
The outgoing blonde says that she’s had more offers
of s*x than she ‘wants to count’ over the years but,
‘without the feelings that usually go with that sort of
thing, it’s kind of gross.’
The writer, who lives alone in a two-bedroom
apartment, states that she is not interested in dating
or pursuing a domestic partner.
‘I have very close friendships but don’t want a
significant other. I don’t want to find another
asexual to be roommates with.‘As far as I can tell I’ll
be happy being single my whole life.’In a YouTube
video, Miss Decker says that as a young teenager
she kissed and cuddled both boys and girls.
But she concluded: ‘I never found anything that
floated my boat.’She says that her family were
convinced that she was a ‘closet lesbian’.
Before she went to college her mother even took her
to the doctors because she wasn’t expressing
‘normal’ interest in the opposite s*x.
Given the all-clear she carried on with her studies,
graduating from the University of Florida in 2000
with a degree in elementary education and
psychology.
She said despite there being more awareness about
asexuality today, it still remains largely
misunderstood.
She’s had male friends try and ‘fix’ her by kissing
her against her will and many insist that she will
‘wake up one day’.
Since opening up about being asexual on the
internet, via YouTube and her blog, Miss Decker
says that she’s received death threats and been told
by several commentators that she just needs a
‘good defiling.’
‘When people hear that you’re asexual, some take
that as a challenge,’ she told the Huffington Post.
‘We are perceived as not being fully human because
s*xual attraction and s*xual relationships are seen
as something alive, healthy people do.
‘They think that you really want s*x but just don’t
know it yet. For people who perform corrective r*pe,
they believe that they’re just waking us up and that
we’ll thank them for it later.’
Miss Decker says that asexuality presents itself in
many forms. Some people, while lacking s*xual
attraction to any gender, may engage in purely
romantic relationships.
However, she defines herself as ‘aromantic’,
meaning she does not have any romantic feelings
either.
Professor Bogaert, an associate professor at Brock
University in Ontario, Canada, suggests in his book
Understanding Asexuality, that around one per cent
of the world’s population – 70million people – are
‘asexual.
He believes that this demographic are ‘under-
studied’ and that they can feel excluded from our
‘very sexualised culture’.
Experts say a certain number of asexuals may have
always existed but are only now starting to ‘come
out’ as society becomes more liberal.
To her ‘haters’, Miss Decker concludes: ‘I’m not
damaged, lonely or in need of a conversion because
I’m not interested [in s*x].’
She hopes to raise awareness about asexuality
through her writing and public speaking.
‘[I want] people who feel similarly to know they’re
not alone.

How Insensitive Senator Ted Cruz Of Texas Insulted Nigerians Over Obamacare
Following some impolite remarks made by
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas about Nigerians,
members of the Christian Association of
Nigerian-Americans (CANAN) have responded
with a statement, demanding a formal
apology from the politician.
A Republican, Cruz compared the glitches plaguing
the website for President Barack Obama’s signature
health care law to the methodologies of “Nigerian
email scammers.”
Giving a speech before a large crowd of supporters
Monday, October 21, in Houston (the largest city in
the State of Texas) about the Affordable Care Act,
known also as Obamacare, the Senator said, ”You
may have noticed that all the Nigerian email
scammers have become a lot less active lately.
They all have been hired to run the Obamacare
website.”

remark comes at 08:36)
“Cruz has maligned all hardworking, decent and
outstanding Nigerian-Americans who add value and
bring goodwill to their different communities,
especially in Texas, with the largest concentration
of Nigerian-Americans in this country,” the
statement by the CANAN reads.
“Although his office did confirm this, explaining that
it was just a joke, CANAN finds it appalling and
reprehensible that the good name and reputation of
Nigerian-Americans is what the Senator can joke
with whimsically. This is completely unacceptable.
“CANAN does not intend at this point to delve into
the very nature of global and international
scammers, except to say this condemnable practice
is not limited to any one country based on available
information and research.
“We consider it an insult that a Senator who should
be representing the people of his state could turn
against some of his very own constituents in what is
clearly a reckless and offensive remark.
“There is only one decent option open to Senator
Cruz: an unconditional and full apology. While we
will be restrained at this point in order to allow for a
respectable response from him, CANAN appeals to
its teeming members drawn from over 1000 local
parishes in the United States, several professional
and ethnic groups, to await further developments.
“We want to assure our people, that we are not
taking this kind of unmitigated insults lying down
anymore.
“We are respectable, law abiding and outstanding
members of the American society. By an account of
the Houston Chronicle, our people are the best
educated of all groups in the land.
“That Houston Chronicle report of May 20, 2008 was
based on US government official census. The census
shows that while 8 percent of the white population
in the US had master’s degree and 1% held
doctorates, 17% of Nigerian- Americans holds a
Master’s degree and 4% doctorates.
“37% of Nigerians in America has first degree
compared to 19% of our white American brothers!
“Compared to the Asians, Nigerians are still tops in
this country as education goes. 12% Asians have
Master’s and 3% doctorates! Compare that to 17% of
Nigerian- Americans who hold a Master’s degree and
4% doctorates.
“There is every reason for us to challenge some of
this ignorant stereotypes and the time to start has
come! We shall no longer be the butt of these
jaundiced and ethnic-based pejoratives!
